With financial support of the European Commission under the Community Programme for Employment and Social Solidarity (PROGRESS), EBU conducted in 2008 a programme of activity : "Partnership for the social inclusion of people with a visual impairment".The programme focuses on five key areas : the UN Convention of the Rights of People with Disabilities, Employment, Access to Technology, Education and Capacity Building, and Communication.
Activities include :
- The United Nations Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities :
Development of a legislative database to support the effective implementation of the Convention in areas that are relevant to visually impaired people’s rights. Visit the Database Web Page
- Employment :
Fact finding visits to survey the situation of visually impaired people’s access to the open labour market and the supported employment sector in EBU member countries.
- Access to Technology :
Study on the accessibility of household appliances.
- Education:

Capacity building seminars for visually impaired women.
