Braille Materials

This section offers a selection of Braille slates, braille writing machines and braille paper. These materials are used to produce Braille (written on paper). The braille system is the writing language of blind and severely partially sighted people.

Blue Type
8-dot Braille keyboard compatible with different data transfer devices and systems.

It was initially designed to improve the accessibility of blind users to systems such as mobile phones or PDAs. During the last months, programs which allow blind and partially sighted people to use mobile phones and PDAs have been developed. These programs are usually based on synthesised speech systems with specific applications or screen readers. However, these equipments are hard to use when introducing data. The mobile phones keyboards are very small and have few keys. And the PDA keyboards are almost inexistent.

Therefore, taking into account these kind of equipments and programs, an 8- dot Braille keyboard was designed, also with more control keys and a joystick, in order to allow an easy use. Due to the variety of communication systems, the BLUE TYPE was provided with different channels. Such as:

- Bluetooth, with SPP profile.
- USB, with HID profile.
- RS232, similar data than Bluetooth channel.

Each one of these channels is able to receive the data introduced by the users. Together with the design of the keyboard, drivers for mobile phones and PDA with Bluetooth communication have also been developed in order to study the system functionality.
The chosen mobile phones are based on Symbian operative system, whilst PDAs support Pocket PC and Linux

BRAILLIN DOLL
Braillín is a doll designed with vivid colours and diverse textures, with the six Braille generating signs on its front. It is intended for children with visual disability as an aid to their integration in the classroom.

Made of semi-rigid plastic, embossed (in relief) with directions and with different colors. It is provided with a booklet in Braille, and is packaged in a document tube which enables the transportation and protection.

FOLDING CHESS AND DRAUGHTS BOARD MOD 01
Folding Chess and draughts game, of reduced size, made of ABS plastic. Playing board where the light squares are recessed to distinguish them from the dark ones. A hole in each square accommodates the pegged pieces that have tactile markings to differentiate one colour from the other. Each set of pieces comes in a separate box (one for each game).

The playing board conveniently folds up, providing storage for the pieces of the game that are not in use. It is delivered with a polyleather carrying case with a belt hook, with two separate compartments: one for the board itself and the other for the second box of pieces, to allow the complete set to fit into it.

BILINGUAL PC GAME - TIME ADVENTURES (ENGLISH/SPANISH)
Graphic, interactive game where the player has to attempt “to save mankind from the wicked clutches of the megacorporations”.
Dramatized in a a futuristic environment, the player will obtain a series of benefits resulting from the decisions taken along the game and from the tests solved that will finally allow leading the main character to the solution of the enigma.

It includes more than 60 graphical scenes and a great variety of prerecorded voices. Very simple to use, the player only needs to press some keys in the QWERTY keyboard.

PC GAME – PRIVATE DETECTIVE SCHOOL
Interactive computer game, easy to play, where the user becomes a private detective in a school. To conduct the investigation on the strange disappearance of a missing person, the player must find solutions to six enigmatic cases that happen in different scenes at the “detective school”.

The player must search for clues to solve the mistery and find the three pedals from the Headmaster’s Merlin Organ, that are essential for the Graduation Ceremony. The game includes many graphical scenes and prerecorded voices.

Minimum computer requirements: Pentium II 600 Mhz, 128 MB RAM, Sound Card, Windows 98, 2000, XP and CD ROM.

Digital hand magnifier for enlarging images either obtained by an internal camera or by other external devices on a integrated TFT 4” monitor. The controls enable the inversion of the contrasts and colours on the image displayed, as well as to digitally magnify it up to twice. The inner camera magnifies up to 6x, which obtains images of up to 12 times.

You can also transmit your image from the built-in camera to a monitor or external TV screen. It is a hand-held solution that offers the following technical specifications:
