Day 1

 9 a.m.         Opening Plenary Session. (Common)

Moderated by Vaclav Polasek, EBU Secretary General.
(5 minutes each speaker).

9.45 a.m.         1st Conference. (Common)

The value of diversity in the framework of the European Year for Equal Opportunities for All, Towards a Just Society.
Speaker to be confirmed.

11.00 a.m.         1st Parallel Workshop Session.

THE ELDERLY : The new needs of people getting old in Europe, a presentation and discussion led by Dirk Jarre from EURAG.

WOMEN : 4 parallel workshops to choose from :

YOUTH: How to improve labor participation among young visually impaired.

Sub themes:

1: How should I be met by a potential employer, and how can organizations for the visually impaired help me ?

2: How can I present myself in the best way possible to a potential employer, and how can organizations for the visually impaired help me ?
(Café dialogue).

2.30 p.m.         2nd Parallel Workshop Session.

THE ELDERLY: “Old and lonely are not the same”, led by Peter Verstraten, SENSIS, The Netherlands.

WOMEN: Building the future through resolutions (Working Groups for resolutions : the issues will be dealt in the corresponding way, taking into account the number of participants).

YOUTH:  How to play with grown ups ; how to promote youth as a resource in national and international organizations and involve them into the decision making process.
(Introduction to intergenerational cohesion followed by group work. Each group should involve young participants and trustees in leading positions of international and national organization).

4.30 p.m.         How mainstream gender and age groups are planning to respond to demographic and social changes. (Common)

(With the participation of EURAG, the European Women's Lobby and the European Youth Parliament).



5.30 p.m.         Needs of elderly blind women. (Common)

(Presentations of personal experiences of being a blind woman and coping with everyday life, group work and discussions). Led by María José Sánchez (Spain) and Alan Suttie (UK).



6.30 p.m.         End of Day 1.

 





Day 2

9 a.m.         1st Parallel Working Session.

THE ELDERLY: Understanding the new needs of people getting old and with a visual impairment: how local and national programmes can address need. Led by Alan Suttie.

WOMEN:

9.00 – 9.45 : Women's empowerment, Enhancing the participation of women in society - 10 factors that make gender balance lead the way to success in organizations. Kicki Nordstrom (Sweden).

9.45 – 10.30 : Adoption and motherhood, inalienable rights. Round Table led by Maria José Sanchez with testimonies/speeches by Jivka Pavlova (Bulgaria), Tiina Nummi-Sodergren (Sweden), Helen Aareskjold (Norway).

YOUTH: Dos and don'ts in an international organization exemplified by the EBU.
(Exchange of experiences and good practice and hands-on workshops).



10.30 a.m.         Coffee break.



11 a.m.         2nd Parallel Working Session.


THE ELDERLY AND YOUTH: Intergenerational cohesion, activity, learning and cooperation.
(Café dialogue followed by market stands for exchange of learning and teaching among elderly and youth).


WOMEN: National reports and exchange of good practice.

A. 11.00 – 11.30 : Report on the results of the EBU survey on the specific needs of deafblind women. Angela Pimpinella (Italy).

B. 11.30 – 13.00 : National reports and exchange of good practice. Led by Ann-Christin Fast, Luisa Bartolucci, Sule Akdag (Turkey).

2.30 p.m.         3rd Parallel Working Session.

THE ELDERLY: National reports.

WOMEN: Resolutions and amendments (debate).

YOUTH: From "Youth" to "Youth in action" programme.

(Lecture and group work : draw on the experience of the participants already using the programme ; point out changes in the Youth in Action. The more experienced ones are acting as group mentors to prepare the outline of a project eligible to be funded by the programme.)



4 p.m.             Coffee break.



4.30 p.m.        Plenary Session:

 
Diversity and equality from different perspectives - Exchanging ideas and conclusions between the three forums
(Presentation of documents produced followed by plenary discussion). Luisa Bartolucci, Ann-Christin Fast.



6 p.m.- 6.30 p.m.         Closing Session.

Note:
The youth group will have an intercultural evening and a session with ice breakers on the day of arrival. Participants of the women's and elderly groups are invited to join the youth to get to know each other, establish a good working atmosphere and relaxed interpersonal relationships. The aims and objectives as well as the working programme of the following days will be introduced.
