EBU has taken an active part in the lobbying campaign led by the European Disability Forum to strengthen the scope for consideration of social, employment and disability issues in the awarding of public contracts.
The results achieved in the
current text of the Directives have been obtained thanks to a partnership among all stakeholders (environmental groups, trade unions, social NGOs, etc.). However, the campaign for a stronger text was met with fierce resistance from the industrial sector.
It is now vital that these achievements are not undermined or limited in scope at national level. EDF has put together a Guide which purpose is to give advice on the implementation of the Directives within national or regional legislative frameworks. This Guide (Toolkit) includes very useful information, from general information on public procurement
to very specific disability-related elements included in the Directives.
