Job Description

Henri is retired from a career as an English teacher. Parents and superiors had always showed great trust in him, which allowed him to manage all his methods and materials by himself even before the information era that made everything easier started.

Getting the job

Henri was one of the first blind people allowed to pass the national exam to be an English teacher. He always tried to maintain himself at the same level as his sighted colleagues.

Adjustments

He had to learn tricks to use illustrations and usually had a person write on the board for him. For the speech lab, he quickly found some marks by touch to use it all by himself. He always improvised and found a way to manage his classes.

I think everyone has to invent his own adjustments. You need conviction and perseverance, and a well managed autonomy. Today’s blind people have many means to be completely independent.
