Job Description

Maudy works as a psychoanalyst in a centre. She mainly deals with children with various disorders, but also with teenagers and adults. She is loosing sight gradually, which makes her work and integration more and more difficult, but she always finds solutions.

Getting the job

She wanted to be a doctor when she learned she had problems with her eyes. She then decided to be a nurse, changed to physiotherapist and finally graduated in psychology and psychoanalysis.

Adjustments

For her, it is more important to listen than to see. To maintain the control of children with behavioural disorders, she developed compensation techniques, listening to their movements. Working in a public centre, she has no technical aids at work, but computer with speech output and scanner at home.

A visually disabled person has to build a concrete plan that will incite the companies to hire her. In the public sector, you can’t expect any help, but if you make it, it is a very satisfactory profession at all levels.
