Getting the job
Louis became
blind when he was 26. Since he didn’t know Braille, he invented a system to
write a book on paper without seeing and had a friend type it. He sent it to an
editor and had to wait one year until he received his first contract and a down
payment on his author’s rights.
Adjustments
Louis uses a recorder and a typewriter. First he speaks the text on a cassette,
and then he listens, corrects and types. He is very independent in his work but
for all the rest, as he says “my wife is my eyes”. She keeps him updated about
all the developments he isn’t able to see.
