Luigi Berlinguer MEP, winner of the MEP Awards 2011
Luigi Berlinguer MEP, whose nomination was presented by the Italian Union of the Blind and Partially Sighted, is the winner of the MEP Awards 2011 under the category Culture and Education.
Mr Berlinguer was nominated for sponsoring the conference “Fair Access to Culture and the Right to Read of Visually Impaired Persons. Exceptions and limitations to copyright with regard to libraries, education and print disabled persons” which took place on 13 April 2011 at the European Parliament in Brussels, in support of the campaign for a treaty at the World Intellectual Property Organisation to ensure better access to books for blind and other print disabled people.
The award ceremony took place on 29 November at the Stanhope hotel in Brussels, and are hosted by hosted by The Parliament Magazine.
