UNCRPD in Portugal - “Clearing up my rights”

Since 2008, Portugal has been a party to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).
In 2017, EBU published a publication entitled "The CRPD - A New Look at our Human Rights", with the support and funding of the REC (Rights, Equality and Citizenship ) of the European Union.
The purpose of the publication is to explain how a visually impaired person or someone who interacts regularly with this group of people can benefit from the Convention.

This brochure, created at the invitation of EBU by ACAPO, with the collaboration of homologous associations from Serbia and Austria, is available in English, Italian, German, Polish, Croatian, Portuguese and Lithuanian .

Following the creation of the document and translation into Portuguese, ACAPO is organizing training actions for people with visual impairments based on this document. In this publication, readers will learn about the Convention, how it can help, and a summary of the main human rights it specifically addresses for people with disabilities. In the words of the authors themselves, "this document was created specifically taking into account the different realities that we find throughout Europe, from north to south, from east to west, from rich countries to poor countries, from rural to cosmopolitan So whatever the style of your daily life, be prepared to discover new perspectives on your human rights and how the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities can really change your life, and the society around you".

In this sense, and in the image of other EBU countries, 3 information sessions with the title “Clearing up my rights” were scheduled in some of the ACAPO delegations, with a view to disseminating this publication, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the main rights which it consecrates for people who are blind or have low vision.
