Portugal - Ana Sofia Antunes sworn in for a new term

On October 26, the President of the Republic inaugurated Ana Sofia Antunes as Secretary of State for the Inclusion of People with Disabilities.

Ana Sofia Antunes was elected as a Member of the Portuguese Parliament for the next quadrennial 2019-2023, having been invited for the second time to perform government functions.

This renewal thus opens the way for the continuation of the work that has been performed in the struggle to improve the living conditions and inclusion of people with disabilities.

ACAPO welcomes the fact that Portugal is the only European country in which a visually impaired person performs high governance functions and can motivate executives from other countries to follow this good practice.

We also expect this Secretariat of State to continue and implement measures to defend the rights of persons with disabilities at the pace of the previous legislature.
