EBU activities

“People on the Move: Making educational and professional experiences abroad fully inclusive!”

This was the title of the 2023 EBU annual conference, held in Madrid. It was a significant exploration of strategies to enhance the inclusivity of educational and professional experiences abroad for individuals with visual disabilities. Hosted by ONCE, the conference, held at Madrid Atrium Ilunion Hotel from November 6th to 8th, gathered 35 young participants from EBU national organisations, experts, and advocates to discuss and share insights.


EBU’s Braille Working Group hosts a recap webinar on its latest updates

Our working group on Braille hosted a webinar on November 7th to present the results of its work and on-going projects. This online event gathered more than 40 people, including representatives of our National Members as well as others from third-sector organisations.

Accessibility

The UPowerWAD Consortium hosts its final webinar in Cyprus

On November 23rd, EBU participated in the concluding online seminar of the UPowerWAD project held in Cyprus. Co-hosted alongside the Swedish company Funka, the Technical University of Dortmund and the Synthesis Center for Research and Education, the event gathered around 40 people across Europe and served as an excellent forum to scale up the initiative’s results in the area of improving digital accessibility of public bodies web sites.

Montenegro - I Choose to Choose – Independently, in Secret, and with Dignity

The pan-disabilities conference "I Choose to Choose – Independently, in Secret, and with Dignity" was organised by EBU member, the Union of the Blind of Montenegro in Podgorica Montenegro, on November 9-10, 2023. This was an excellent opportunity for a delegation from the EBU secretariat, Executive Director Lars BOSSELMANN and Membership Officer Valerie BERTRAND-VIVANCOS, to get to know the Montenegrin organisation from a closer perspective. The conference focused on enhancing the electoral experience for persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Montenegro.


Ireland - A new name for an old friend

On the 6th of November our Irish member NCBI changed their name to Vision Ireland. For 92 years, they have supported people who are blind or vision impaired across Ireland.

Road Safety in Ireland

Our Irish member Vision Ireland (VI) was recently shortlisted for an award at the European Commission 2023 Excellence in Road Safety Awards.
