The Vision for Equality Award
The EBU Vision for Equality Award is given to European organisations, institutions, policy makers, enterprises or individuals in recognition of their commitment to protect and promote the rights of blind and partially sighted people and to improve their living conditions. The Award, which consists of a certificate and a piece of art by a visually impaired artist, is presented every four years on the occasion of EBU general assemblies.
The award for 2015 went to the Italian organisation IRIFOR del Trentino – Cooperativa Sociale ONLUS and was presented at the final gala dinner of the EBU General Assembly in London.
Established in 2008 Cooperativa Sociale IRIFOR del Trentino ONLUS is an initiative of and for blind and partially sighted people, providing services ranging from educational support to visual rehabilitation and raising awareness on blindness and low vision among the general public, which has achieved a lot in a short time and has set an outstanding example of good practice.
Mr Ferdinando Ceccato of IRIFOR was present to receive the award and certificate.
The award for 2015 is a sculpture by Felice Tagliaferri, a renowned blind Italian sculptor, who has donated a work he especially created for this year's Vision For Equality award.
