partially sighted people in Europe

EBU and technology issues

An increasing number of blind and partially sighted people have access to computers and other technological devices. Electronic speech systems and Braille displays allow them to access the Internet, provided that websites are built according to the guidelines for accessible sites.

Computer adaptations and technological devices for blind and partially sighted people are however expensive. In some countries subsidies are available to make them affordable.

More and more computer programs and assistive technology are becoming available to blind and partially sighted people and this makes life a lot easier and independent.  The price is still a problem for many people.
