EBU Workshop on Audio Description (AD) basics for accessible short videos

EBU offers a 3-session workshop in November on AD basics for accessible short videos. With the financial support of the European Union, we invite up to 3 persons from EBU National Members who are interested in what makes short videos accessible and who are willing to share and promote this with colleagues, content creators and the general public. No specific knowledge or experience is required.

We encourage a blind, low vision and sighted person from the same country to team up and join. If this is not possible, you are of course welcome to participate individually.

Participants from the 2024 pilot said:

  • “An eye-opener to me, being new on the subject.”
  • “I am a long-time AD user, but now I understand why I like or dislike some descriptions…fascinating.”
  • “The example videos used were very good and I learned a lot in the discussions.”
  • “I thought I knew about AD, but I have really learned new things that made me think about it in a different way.”
  • “A lot of information presented in an entertaining way and easy enough to follow.”

Join the workshop and take the first step in becoming an advisor and promotor of accessible short videos.

Date and time: Monday 3rd, 10th and 17th November 2025 from 13:30 to 16:00 CET.

Cost: Participation is free. We simply ask you to undertake an activity within your country to promote accessible videos, for example by writing an article in a newsletter and (social) media, setting up an info meeting at work, an online talk for students, speaking on a podcast, contacting an influencer in your country, organise a similar workshop, etc.

Registration is open until 30th October 2025 using the following registration form

Should you have any trouble filling out the form, contact nacho.lopez@euroblind.org. Please note that places are limited. So ´first come, first served´ applies, whereby we will also look at the motivation given and aim for a balanced representation.
