In recent years, Artificial Intelligence has become increasingly present in our daily lives. From simplifying work tasks to helping us search for information, AI assistants have become more common tools.
Despite offering a wide range of solutions, AI systems also pose several challenges in terms of accessibility and human control. In practice, these issues are particularly important for persons with visual impairment.
To explore these in greater depth, EBU is delighted to invite you to its upcoming webinar “Keeping an eye on AI: accessibility, opportunities and control for blind and partially sighted users”. Conducted by Accessibility Consultant and User Tester Vlada Hmelevska, this webinar will cover the potential offered by Artificial Intelligence tools, as well as the main challenges posed by these systems for blind and partially sighted persons. It will also include a practical demonstration of a ChatGPT Agent completing a task and interacting with online information using a screen reader.

- Working with texts, documents and images: practical examples, including image description and alt text, and why AI-generated results must be checked.
- Free and paid AI tools: key differences and how to choose a suitable option for a particular task.
- From AI assistants to AI agents: how agents differ from regular AI chats, what actions they can perform, and why accessibility and human control matter. This section will include a practical demonstration of a ChatGPT Agent using a screen reader.
- AI mistakes, privacy and responsible use: practical principles for checking information, protecting personal data and retaining control over important actions.
