Invitation - online presentation of the ”EBU Facilitator’s Toolkit: Raising Awareness About Visual Impairment

We are delighted to invite you to an online presentation of the ”EBU Facilitator’s Toolkit: Raising Awareness About Visual Impairment” developed by the Low Vision Forum of the European Blind Union.

This toolkit is designed to support teachers, educators, social workers, youth workers, trainers, and facilitators by providing practical tools to foster understanding and promote the inclusion of blind and partially sighted individuals. It features a variety of interactive activities that help participants experience and better understand the challenges visually impaired people face. Through simulations and experiential learning, facilitators can deliver impactful workshops that build empathy and raise awareness.

The toolkit also offers creative strategies and actionable resources to promote inclusive practices in communities, workplaces, and educational settings. The activities can easily be incorporated into lessons on health, science, and social studies, as well as leadership training, community service programmes, or sensitivity workshops.

The presentation will take place via Zoom and will last approximately 60–90 minutes, with two time slots available to accommodate different schedules:

Programme:

  1. Welcome and opening remarks – Nacho Lopez (EBU)
  2. The background and development of the Toolkit – Polona Car Djurić
  3. Guidelines for designing and implementing visual awareness workshops – Marjakaisa Matthíasson / Gaja Beč
  4. Practical demonstration of online tools – Vilmantas Balčikonis
  5. Questions and discussion

If you wish to participate in any of the two sessions, please complete the following form by 11th June 2025.
