In cooperation with Austrian Digital Accessibility specialists Susanne Buchner-Sabathy and Doris Ossberger, the European Blind Union is delighted to invite you to a webinar. You will learn how you, as a user of assistive technology for computers and smartphones, can provide constructive feedback on the accessibility of websites or apps.
Blind and partially sighted people in Europe still face barriers when using digital media. In this webinar, we want to remind you of your rights as enshrined in European legislation on digital accessibility and international antidiscrimination legislation such as the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. It offers practical guidance to help you spot obstacles you typically encounter on digital platforms and help developers become aware of what needs to be resolved and avoided.
The Programme
1. Different input and output methods, assistive technologies, the hidden power of digital media (the source code and assistive software) and common barriers for screen reader users.
2. What international legal sources support my rights?
3. A deeper look into the legal framework: aims, obligations, institutions/companies concerned and its transposition to national legislation.
4.The importance of giving accessibility feedback. What are feedback mechanisms? How can we effectively use them?

Please, note that the session on November 18th will be conducted in German, while the other two will be hosted in English. We kindly ask you to pay attention to this detail while registering for the activity, just to ensure its organisational smoothness.
