Statistics on the number of visually impaired people in Europe.

The EBU Board wishes to look into the topic as to whether the estimated number of 30 million persons who are blind or partially sighted in wider Europe is a fair reflection of latest data. It is important to know how many people EBU is representing. At the same time, due to lack of reliable data, and due to different methods to measure visual impairment, this task is fairly complex. But bearing in mind that some of you work on statistics on blind and partial sight at the national level, please let us know if you want to join a team to examine that important matter. If so, please contact: Valérie Bertrand-Vivancos.
