The European Blind Union has nominated Francesca Sbianchi as its delegate to the upcoming General Assembly of the European Disability Forum, and as a candidate for election to the EDF Board.
An experienced advocate with over a decade of engagement in the disability movement, Francesca Sbianchi currently chairs the EBU Advocacy Committee, where she helps steer the organisation’s policy and campaigning work. Partially sighted and born in Assisi, Italy, she combines a strong academic background in international relations, disability management and inclusive education with hands-on experience at both national and European levels. Her previous roles include serving on the EDF Youth Committee and contributing to international advocacy processes, including shadow reporting on the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women and the Istanbul Convention. She is also actively involved in the Italian Union of the Blind and Partially Sighted and other initiatives promoting accessibility and inclusion.
Recognised for her leadership and commitment, Francesca has played a key role in advancing youth advocacy and strengthening cooperation across the European disability sector and we are convinced that she is a strong candidate.
EBU wishes her every success in the upcoming election!
