The Leadership Exchange Committee (LEC) is now just a matter of weeks away from its highly anticipated annual gathering. This year's meeting will be graciously hosted by our Croatian colleagues, who are simultaneously marking a landmark milestone: the 80th anniversary of the Croatian Union of the Blind, held in Zagreb. Around 30 participants will converge in the historic city of Pula for what is set to be a rich and productive few days of exchange, reflection, and forward planning at the executive level of EBU member organisations.
The timing of this gathering carries particular significance. With just 18 months remaining before our next General Assembly, the meeting arrives at a pivotal juncture in the current term. LEC members will have the opportunity to begin laying the groundwork for the priorities and initiatives that will shape EBU's direction going forward.
Beyond these essential institutional discussions, the gathering will also carve out dedicated space for meaningful peer exchange. Members will have the chance to share experiences, insights, and lessons learned from their respective national contexts.
In keeping with the spirit of staying at the forefront of developments that matter to our members and communities, a brainstorming session on the use of Artificial Intelligence will be held during the meeting to spark important conversations about both the opportunities and challenges the technology presents.
A full account of the outcomes and key takeaways from the 2026 LEC meeting will be shared in the upcoming edition of this newsletter, so stay tuned.
