22.04.2026 Ligue Braille organises first aid courses for blind and partially sighted people

Situations like accidents or vital emergencies require immediate responses. In this sense, we can all make a difference to help in saving lives, including blind and partially sighted persons.

EBU's Belgian Member, Ligue Braille, is organising a series of first aid courses for people with visual impairment. Those free-of-charge courses will be carried out through our Belgian National Member's regional branches in Liège, Jambes and Libramont. The first sessions will take place in the beforementioned locations on 4th, 5th and 6th May respectively.

Logistically, the Belgian Medical Service will teach our communities in Belgium more about different first-aid medical maneuvers, such as using a defibrillator, putting a person in the Lateral Safety Position or learning to react in cases of hypoglycemia or strokes.

In this sense, Jonatan Stoz, trainer at the Belgian Medical Service, pinpoints that "having a disability doesn't deprive us of having good reflexes."

If you're a blind or partially sighted person living in Beligum willing to learn more about first-aid maneuvers, you will find more information in this document (please, note that the document is in French).
