Invitation - online presentation of the ”EBU Facilitator’s Toolkit: Raising Awareness About Visual Impairment
We are delighted to invite you to an online presentation of the ”EBU Facilitator’s Toolkit: Raising Awareness About Visual Impairment” developed by the Low Vision Forum of the European Blind Union. This toolkit is designed to support teachers, educators, social workers, youth workers, trainers, and facilitators by providing practical tools to foster understanding and promote the inclusion of blind and partially sighted individuals. It features a variety of interactive activities that help participants experience and better understand the challenges visually impaired people face. Through simulations and experiential learning, facilitators can deliver impactful workshops that build empathy and raise awareness.
Report on the EBU Delegation’s Visit to RNIB Headquarters in London
On Tuesday 22 and Wednesday 23 April 2025, a small European Blind Union delegation including Lars Bosselmann (Executive Director) and Valerie Bertrand-Vivancos (Membership Officer) visited the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) at their new headquarters on Pentonville Road in London. The two-day visit served as a valuable opportunity for knowledge exchange and strategic alignment between EBU and RNIB, one of the UK's most prominent organisations supporting blind and partially sighted people.
Report on the Norwegian Delegation Visit to the EBU Office
On 6 May 2025, the European Blind Union (EBU) office in Paris had the pleasure of hosting a delegation from one of its member, the Norwegian Association of the Blind and Partially Sighted (Norges Blindeforbund https://www.blindeforbundet.no). The visit was part of the NABP's project titled "Think Globally, Act Locally", aimed at promoting the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) at the municipal and grassroot level across Norway. The project also seeks to better understand how the European Union (EU) influences national and local policies in Norway.

Report of the 2025 Annual Meeting of the Blind and Partially Sighted Associations of the Baltic States
The annual meeting of the blind and partially sighted associations of the Baltic States took place on May 8–9, 2025, in Riga, Latvia. The venue for the discussions was the meeting room on the first floor at Braila Street 3. The event brought together leaders and representatives of national organizations from Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania. The main purpose of the meeting was to share updates on national developments in policy and practice, foster closer regional cooperation, and discuss opportunities to coordinate positions on key strategic issues affecting blind and partially sighted persons. The event also provided a platform for informal exchange, mutual learning, and exploring potential future projects.
The French Federation of the Blind presents a review of France’s compliance with digital accessibility standards
Although advances might be made in the area of digital accessibility’s legislation, progress in its implementation needs to be monitored if we wish to bring positive change for blind and partially sighted people. The French Federation of the Blind conveyed that message in a hybrid event on May 15th in Paris on the occasion of Global Accessibility Awareness Day.

We can announce that WBU First Vice President, Fernando Riaño, who is also Director of Institutional Relations and Sustainability of the ONCE Social Group and Chair of Servimedia, has been elected Chair of the International Disability Alliance (IDA) for the 2025–2028 term.
