Goodbye EBU from Gary May

After 16 years at EBU, our Information Officer, Gary May, will go into retirement on 31 March 2026. Having known a lot of people within the EBU Network, he would like to address some words to our Members.

Vision Ireland initiative shaping the future of accessible transport wins global award.

Vision Ireland and The Wayfinding Centre have been named 2026 United Nations Zero Project Awardees, placing Ireland among a select group of global innovators advancing the rights of people with disabilities through practical, scalable solutions.

The Zero Project Award, presented annually at the United Nations in Vienna, recognises initiatives that advance implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and demonstrate measurable impact in advancing inclusion.

On January 23, 2026, Netflix subscribers discovered Blind Sherlock, a gripping new series whose main character is a blind police investigator with extraordinary hearing skills. While the show feels like pure crime fiction, its roots are firmly planted in a remarkable (and very real) Belgian story.

For all visually impaired musicians

The Association for the Education of the Visually Impaired (EGED), a civil society organization based in Türkiye working in the fields of accessible education, inclusive arts, and advocacy for persons with visual impairments is organising, alongside the Tourism for All Association, the International Music Festival for the Visually Impaired, which will take place in İzmir, Türkiye, between October 14–19, 2026 (festival program: October 15–18).

Inclusive Abacus Education Briefing: Advancing Education, Health, and Employment for Visually Impaired Learners

The Inclusive Abacus Education Briefing, held on 28 January 2026 at Abertay University, Dundee, showcased seven years of inclusive teaching practices. The event highlighted accessible, learner-centered approaches for visually impaired students and shared ongoing initiatives across education, health, and employment, emphasising creativity and active engagement.
