EBU Webinar: Digital accessibility – know your rights, give constructive feedback!

In cooperation with Austrian Digital Accessibility specialists Susanne Buchner-Sabathy and Doris Ossberger, the European Blind Union is delighted to invite you to a webinar. You will learn how you, as a user of assistive technology for computers and smartphones, can provide constructive feedback on the accessibility of websites or apps.

Changes to EBU Membership

We would like to inform you that, following the recent Board meeting, Moldova and Russia are no longer EBU members.

A new standard in competencies for assistance dog professionals.

ANEC, the European consumer voice in standardisation, informs us that the new standard EN 17984-3 “Assistance dogs – Part 3: Competencies for assistance dog professionals” has been approved.

Germany - Launch of the International Platform legibility.info

How can information be designed so that everyone can read it easily – including people with low vision? This question has guided the German Federation of the Blind and Partially Sighted (DBSV) for many years. Building on the success of its German-language platform leserlich.info, DBSV has now launched an English version: legibility.info – an international resource dedicated to improving the readability of text in both print and digital formats.

In the UK nearly one in five parents say their children find standard school books “hard to see”

Thousands of children across the UK are struggling to read standard text school books according to a new poll from The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB). RNIB is calling for every school to adopt Bookshare – a free on-line hub of over 1.2 million accessible texts in formats like audio, ePub, electronic braille and digital PDFs.

Croatia - “Not Seeing Does Not Make Us Invisible” Campaign Marks International White Cane Day

To mark World Sight Day and International White Cane Day, the Croatian Blind Union (CBU) organised a public awareness event at Zrinjevac Park in Zagreb as part of the campaign “Not Seeing Does Not Make Us Invisible.”
