Vision Ireland’s Wayfinding Centre hosted The IAAP EU and Vially Accessibility Hybrid Event in Dublin.
The IAAP EU and Vially Accessibility Hybrid Event took place in Dublin, on the 4th and 5th February in Vision Ireland’s Wayfinding Centre.
The two day IAAP EU Accessibility 2026 Hybrid Event focused on various aspects of the European Accessibility Act. The conference took a closer look at aspects previously not well covered, like self-service terminals, information and support services, and travel information. Vision Ireland Group CEO Chris White delivered the keynote address to those in attendance in the Wayfinding Centre and those who joined online. The Lithuanian Association of the Blind and Partially Sighted (LASS) has become a member of the European cultural route network “Romea Strata.” This is a significant development, as organisations representing blind and partially sighted people rarely become part of the European cultural routes network. “Romea Strata” is a historic pilgrimage route connecting Northern and Southern Europe – from Tallinn to Rome.
Getting to know the Armenian Blind Union of the Disabled Public Organisation
The Armenian Blind Union of the Disabled Public Organisation was founded on September 29, 1930, on the initiative of 20 young people deprived of sight, all of whom were former students of an American orphanage. Shortly after, in January 1931, the organisation's first production workshop was opened in Yerevan, where the production of brushes and paper bags was organized. It was no coincidence that the work began with these products, because these blind people had learned these professions in an American orphanage. This facilitated the beginning of their work and accelerated it.

France’s Essential Public Services: Still Out of Reach for Blind and Visually Impaired Users
Twenty years after France’s landmark Disability Act of 2005, and two years after the government pledged that all essential online public services would be fully accessible by 2025, the figures are in — and they make for uncomfortable reading.

Bring down the barriers: EBU launches a gender equality awareness-raising video on International Women Day
Full gender equality cannot be reached without properly implemented inclusion.
On International Women Day, the European Blind Union launched its new awareness-raising video “Bring down the barriers: a call for gender equality”. A facts-based production conceived by bearing in mind some statistics collected by the European Institute for Gender Equality through its 2024 Gender Equality Index, it covers, among others, the main obstacles that women with disabilities face in domains such as access to the labour market or balancing professional and personal lives.
